At the end of Year 6, pupils take the national Key Stage 2 assessments, commonly known as SATs. These assessments take place in May and measure pupils’ attainment in:

• Reading
• Writing
• Mathematics
• Grammar, punctuation and spelling

Average scaled scores

Scaled scores are used for the externally assessed reading and mathematics tests. A scaled score of 100 represents the expected standard.




Please note that writing is assessed through teacher assessment and therefore does not have a scaled score.
