At St Laurence, we are committed to ensuring that staff have the knowledge and skills needed to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs. Training is reviewed regularly and is informed by the needs of the children within our school.

Some members of staff have additional specialist training to deliver targeted support, including Thrive, ELSA, sensory circuits and Fizzy programmes. Staff also work closely with external professionals, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists and specialist teaching services, to ensure that advice is understood and implemented effectively.

In addition to their professional training, many members of staff have personal experience of supporting family members or others in their own lives with a range of SEND. This lived experience helps to strengthen their understanding, empathy and commitment to providing thoughtful and inclusive support for pupils and families.
