In the early hours of Saturday morning, on the 8th October 2022, sixteen keen St Laurence children set out on their mission to complete a 1km or 1.5km run around Quex Park with one goal – get to the finish line, get a lovely medal to take home and cherish. Only for some, is this event about winning – for most it is more about the spirit of ‘taking part’. Well…all sixteen did that and did it with a wonderful spirit, a great attitude and reflected our school values of hope and joy to the highest level. Despite some inevitable nerves, all the children did very well and did themselves and their families proud. Mr Wells, who very much loved a cross-country race in his younger days, empathised with every stride the children took, knowing how the children must be feeling during their race. It was such a brave and determined effort from all St Laurence children and we hope their achievements can inspire more to take part next time. Who’s up for the next one then?
